'Skins Release Veteran Lineman Jansen

The Washington Redskins made a somewhat unexpected move today, Friday May 29th, by releasing veteran tackle Jon Jansen. 33 year old Jansen has played his entire NFL career with the 'Skins and was considered one of the most consistent players on the team over the past ten years. Since Being selected by the 'skins 37th overall in 1999 out of Michigan, Jansen's play has earned him a reputation as one of the NFL's elite lineman. The team leader was cut today, after a meeting with head coach Jim Zorn, team owner Daniel Snyder, and Redskins' vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato.
